Life Lessons from Loss

I can’t believe today makes 7 years since we unexpectedly said goodbye (for now) to my Daddy aka Bah, as I affectionately called him.

For those that have been following along since then you know that was by far the hardest day of my life…however, I am SO GRATEFUL for the HOPE of HEAVEN and that because we know Jesus we will see each other again!

Today I’ve been reminiscing on that day and some of the life lessons that loss taught me and I thought it would be worth sharing.

I remember when we had to take my Dad’s clothes and shoes home with us from the hospital that day and the idea of “you take nothing with you” became so clear and very shocking too…but I remember receiving the black Quiksilver watch he was wearing that day and I immediately put it on my wrist and wore it for the next few months and every time I’d look down at it I’d of course remember my Dad but the Lord used that sentimental item to also remind me about some Truths in regards to TIME.

1. God’s TIMING is perfect. Though we may not always understand things this side of Heaven...I know I can rest in the fact that His ways are higher than our ways & His thoughts are higher than our thoughts…He's in control.

2. TIME is short. We are not promised tomorrow. Do the ones you love know that you love them? Have you forgiven those that you should forgive?

3. We are here for such a TIME as this. There's a reason you still have breath in your lungs and life in your limbs! There’s also a reason God placed you in your city, community, family, workplace, etc...what will YOU do with the time you have left? How will you be intentional with your days?

If you’ve experienced loss recently, I’m so sorry. I pray that this hardship is drawing you closer to Jesus, His Word, and His Truth because that is the BEST HOPE we have while here on this earth!
